weight loss

6/12/2015

This need
To lose
To shed
to get back to a primal state, to pure origins
To improve
To hope
to counter, fight back, combat.
Resist.
We need constant pressure
The sky falling on us endlessly
Not all of us can be astronauts, losing a year's bone density, floating in fantastic spaces having life-changing sensation free us from aspiration
We need to be crushed by invisible forces

Impossible forces
assail us
take our life
Shrink us with malignant growth
in a parody of transformation
Brutal irony mocks our vanity
Its cruelty makes us noble
helpless
in meek decline
Everything has to be removed, it seems,
for remedies
These are lessons already learned, examples outsized
We got the bitter joke the first time
Needy and modest, greedy for life, love
Maybe we don't need ultimates to understand.
We get it, OK?
Leave us intact a little longer
Give us our span
We know we all have to go
We know we are lucky, blessed
to see another sunrise, a loved one's smile,
to feel a mate's laugh.
We have been paying attention, alright?
