I'm a self-taught improvisational collagist. I photograph what catches my eye on daily walks and combine those pictures with images from books and magazines to create mixed media collages.
“I like to create new textures and objects from the landscape itself, highlighting some of that we see every day but perhaps don’t register.
“Making the collages is a process of investigating their mystery and trying to find out why they caught my eye.
“Sometimes, cutting them out of their context releases some sort of latent energy or humour or purpose I never suspected, and they combine happily or edgily with something else to create a collage. Sometimes they need their context and the photo itself remains the finished product.”
